New Music XIV with Lisa Bielawa

Adelphi University presents composer-vocalist Lisa Bielawa in recital with department of music faculty members Andrea Christie and Deborah Sepe (cello) alongside guest artists Blanca Cecilia González (violin), Marissa Licata (violin), and Chieh-Fan Yu (viola). 

Composer-vocalist Lisa Bielawa is a 2009 Rome Prize winner in Musical Composition. She takes inspiration for her work from literary sources and close artistic collaborations. The New York Times describes her music as, “ruminative, pointillistic and harmonically slightly tart.” She is the recipient of the 2017 Music Award from the American Academy of Arts & Letters.

Featuring works for strings, piano and voice by Bielawa including Graffiti dell’amante, selections from VireoThe Houri and the Poet, Scene & Aria: Layover at CDG, Wait and A Collective Cleansing.
